On July 23, 1960, Gary Pennell was married to Iva Ehler at Canton Gospel Center by the late Dr. Harland J. O'Dell. The couple is now celebrating 50 years of marriage.
Gary worked for Republic Steel at one point, but retired with 30 years of service from UPS. Iva worked for the Hoover Company and the Timken Company before becoming a claims manager for Nationwide insurance, where she had 30 years of service.
The couple, of Miday Road in East Canton, have one son, Dan. He and his wife Kelly have blessed Gary and Iva with three grandchildren -- Alec, Amelia and Alexis.
They are members of Central Baptist Church in Canton where an anniversary celebration was held on July 17 for family and friends.
Gary and Iva are planning a fall train trip to the western United States in honor of the occasion.
