BREAKFAST GIVEN IN WAYNESBURG

Light of Christ Church's Backpack Ministry, a children's nutritional program, is taking place from 9-10:30 a.m., Tuesdays through Aug. 31, at Waynesburg American Legion Hall. The food is for children who qualify for free lunch programs at their schools.

Recipients will be given seven breakfasts per week, for each child in a family. Participants should bring their own backpacks.

On Monday, Aug. 2, from 3-6 p.m. the Church of Christ at 1520 California Ave. in Louisville, will have a clothing giveaway and soup kitchen. For more information ,call 330-875-1673.

ST. JAMES TO HOLD CASINO/COOKOUT NIGHT

St. James School in Waynesburg will hold its annual ribs cookout and casino night on Saturday, Aug. 7 in the church pavilion. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The evening includes a reverse raffle drawing for $150. A ticket includes six dinners and a chance in the raffle. The menu for the dinner includes barbecue chicken, ribs, rigatoni, salad, dessert, pop, beer and wine. The casino night will feature video horse races, black jack, poker tables and a 50/50 drawing. JEWELRY FUNDRAISER

TO BE AT SHEPHERD

OF THE VALLEY

Premier Design's line of fashion jewelry, including fall and holiday fashions and accessorizing tips will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. WOMEN'S LUNCHEON SET

Canton Christian Women's Connection will hold its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 at North Canton Civic Center. The theme will be "Accessorize your life." The event will feature Shelly Davis with Cookie Lee Jewelry. Mary Thompson will speak and Pat Long will provide music. MEN'S BIBLE STUDY MET

The men of Christ Memorial Church in Robertsville held their July 17 breakfast meeting at Tim's Restaurant in East Canton. The meetings are planned monthly by Ralph Frase and Jim Muckley.

Frase gave table grace and conducted the program on "Everyday Sacrifices" taken from Romans chapter 12. The 8 a.m. Aug. 21 get-together will take place at the church.

CONGREGATIONAL

PICNIC HELD

The July 18 worship service and congregational picnic of Paris Israel Lutheran Church was hosted by Bill and Jane Tuttle Sr., at their home in Robertsville.

The message was delivered by Pastor Sue Rodgers and special vocal and instrumental music was provided by Bill and Barbara Tuttle Jr.

A variety of yard games were played by the approximately 60 adults and children present.
