On March 18, 1950, William Welker was married to Mary Speakman in the Israel Lutheran Church in Paris, Ohio, by Reverend Lautenschlager. This couple recently celebrated 60 years of marriage with a family barbecue at their home.
Bill was a truck driver for Frito Lay, retiring in 1991. Mary has been a homemaker and part-time bookkeeper.
The Welkers have resided on State Route 44, Waynesburg their entire marriage, but she grew up in Paris. Since 1992, they have spent the winter in Avon Park, Fla.
Evelyn (Jim) Welker Kellogg of Wenatchee, Wash. and Gary (Jennice) Welker of North Canton are their children. The Welkers have four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
They are active supporters of the Little Country Church and World Gospel Missions.
In their spare time they follow the Cleveland Indians, and she does quilting.
