To the editor:
Canton South needs a new high school. The existing building has served well but needs to be replaced.
The original building, by any measure, is barely adequate, proved by testimony and observation. See for yourself-- in spite of dedicated and skilled maintenance, structural systems are failing.
More importantly, the physical structure is limited in its capacity to support quality programs and prepare students for their world of work. After all, the purpose of schooling is students learning, all they can, as well as they can.
I am retired and as hesitant as anyone to commit a fixed income many years in the future to tax levies. However, I also know that the fabric of our community relies on the foundation of our schools.
I recommend and will support Issue 47.
