To the residents of Waynesburg:

I would like to thank all those who supported me in my bid for re-election to village council. I would also like to congratulate those who were elected and wish them the best of luck.

I feel I have accomplished a good deal in the last few years and would like to share those accomplishments with you. I organized the Halloween Masquerade party and the Easter Egg Hunt. I am currently the Post Service Officer with American Legion Post 432. I was instrumental in securing a rebate of the last few years of their property tax payments and a future exemption from paying property taxes.

I am a lifetime charter member of the Waynesburg Historical Society and currently serve as their statutory agent. I personally wrote their by-laws, filed their incorporation papers with the State of Ohio, filed their 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit papers with the IRS and filed their first-year tax statement.

I believe I have accomplished more in my four years on council then some members have accomplished in the last twenty or thirty years. I was instrumental in council adopting the Ohio Ethics Code and rules for open meetings and to open information to the people. Before I came on council committee meetings were closed to the public. They are now open. I wrote job descriptions to cover the street superintendent, street workers, cemetery sexton, zoning inspector and fiscal officer. I am in the process of updating the zoning ordinance.

I have suggested once a month meetings, free curbside recycling, applying for grants for solar powered street lights, and seeking grants to build a combination village hall, fire station, police station, community center that would include a small library and museum/historical center. I have suggested looking into a geodesic dome for this building and solar/wind to operate it. I pushed for continuing Mayor's Court and found an attorney willing to do it for us at a very affordable cost. I have also suggested appointing committees that included residents of the village.

I was instrumental in having the millage for the general operating levy that was on the ballot reduced from three mils to two mils. I was also instrumental in council treating resolutions the same as ordinances and requiring three readings. I believe I am the only member of council to have attended seminars covering the Sunshine Laws and the only one who has read and understands our zoning ordinance.

I secured a grant of over $235,000 for the village to extend water lines, and I was responsible for securing the Christmas Parade being held on Nov. 21 in Waynesburg.

With the failure of the operating levy you are going to hear of reduced snowplowing this winter. I believe we can keep the streets plowed by having split shifts for our workers, and I would be happy to discuss this with anyone wanting more information. You can sometimes find me at the new business I started in the village or feel free to call me.
