Pike Grange elects new officers

Pike Grange was recently busy with serving banquets and preparing for the community Swiss steak dinner. The event was held Oct. 1.

At its August meeting, the grange held an election of officers. Newly elected officers were Rob Carrick on the executive committee, Mitch Brown at third chair on the executive committee and Kathy Mayer as Ceres. All other positions were re-elected to their office.

Donations were given to the state committees, family activities, deaf activities, legislative, community service, lectures and state convention.

Donations were made to domestic violence, Flying Horse Farm, the deaf schools for supplies and hats, gloves and scarves and for second harvest to the state convention.

Grange members continue to collect medicine bottles for pop tabs and box tops for the deaf, and stamps for APS. Members also worked the gates for the Stark County Fair.

At the September meeting, state secretary Deb Hamilton visited along with the deputy Ed Cochran. A meal was served prior to the meeting. Two families were supported with gas and food cards.

Those who drive by the grange will see that a new handicap ramp has been installed.

The lecturer presented deaf activities program for the year at the August meeting. The title was "Pups in a Snowstorm" and the September program was on the mason/ball jars.

Members will attend the county Pomona meeting and will take items for judging in family activities and lecturer.
