PIKE TWP.-- Resident Clarence Flowers commended the township road crew at the trustees' meeting Sept. 6.
Flowers said that the special attention paid to intersections made travel much safer.
Resident Donna Reed asked for copies of zoning permits for property in the 8700 block of Briggle. Concerned that the property was not being used for agricultural purposes, she asked that it be checked. She also questioned how much agricultural permits cost.
Zoning inspector Sharon Perrine explained that there is no charge for agriculture, but agreed to walk the property in question. Reed thanked those involved in installing a school bus sign on the street. She also discussed cleanup of right of way property in front of her home.
Road supervisor Mark Pahanish said tree removal will cost $700. Trustees agreed to this, but when Reed asked to have the wood stacked on her property, it was explained that this would have to be done by the property owner.
Pahanish said his crew is still mowing roads, and doing stump removal on Elson.
In other business, trustees;
WAIVED the conditional use permit fee for the baseball association.
REMINDED residents to check their electric bill to make sure the charge is at a rate of 5.39, If not, they should call Trebel at 614-425-4885.
NOTED the Oct. 3 meeting will be held at the East Sparta fire station, with an open house beginning at 6 p.m., and the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m.
PASSED a resolution to move money from the materials account to the equipment account to enable fiscal officer Steve Knox to make a truck payment.
SUBMITTED a budget for 2017, subject to change.
The next regular meeting will be September 19, 7:30 p.m., at the township building.
