Weaver reunion held

The 96th Weaver Reunion was held once again at Chris and Stacey Fallot's Farm on Aug. 7 in rural Waynesburg.

Bob Fallot welcomed everyone and led in prayer before everyone joined the feast of a pot luck dinner provided by the families that attended. A total of 62 attended this year.

As the old saying goes, "We're like branches on a tree/. We may grow in different directions, but our roots remain as one."

Following the white elephant auction, that covers the expenses of the next year's reunion, recognition was made and containers of Weaver's Munchies were awarded.

The person who came the farthest was Carmie Gier Scarpitti from Willow Springs, NC. Nobody could beat Mabel Weaver Halter for being the oldest to attend at 102. The youngest was Isaiah Gardiner who was 18 months.

The tallest family member was Jake Gamber and the shortest was Shirley Seemann. Members had to put their thinking caps on to arrive at who had the most letters in their name and the winner was, Stewart Edward Unkefer Jr. Edgar Betz won for the oldest person still employed and getting a paycheck, and Jeanne Kehner won for the person who most recently got social security. The person who most recently changed jobs was Bruce Seemann, and the couple who had the newest address was Mike and Kathy Demster.

Award was given to the last to call and that was Doris Garster. First time attenders were Jackie Rugani and Bradley Gardiner.

Eric Weaver was recognized, along with his wife, Jodee, and children, Ben and Kaitie, for knowing the name will continue for at least another generation.

There were hay rides and homemade ice cream.

Anyone who branches off of the David and Sarah (Kenright) Weaver Family Tree is encouraged to mark the first Sunday of August on their calendars each year to attend the annual reunion.

Next year the event will be held again at the same location on Aug. 6, 2017.
