EAST CANTON-- Mayor Kathy Almasy during village council's regular meeting July 18 reported that vendors are sought for a community market.
The market will be set up at the Foltz Community Center on Aug. 20, Sept. 17 and Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. to noon each day.
Items that will be sold at the market are as follows: fruits, vegetables, eggs, honey, meats, cheeses, baked goods, handmade jams, handmade soaps, handmade candles, arts, crafts, flowers, plants and shrubs.
The market is sponsored by the Osnaburg HOPE committee.
In park business, council discussed placing cement walkways in front of restrooms in the village park. That would allow those who need a wheel chair or cane to enter the restrooms easier.
Council member Reggie McGee, at the last council meeting, reported a volunteer group with the local softball and baseball association is ready to move forward with constructing a snack shack at the park. That triggered questions and concerns about zoning and building permits.
A motion was passed to pay building permits with the cost not to exceed $1,000.
In other business, council members:
/ RECEIVED a request from Pop-A-Top Tavern for a top shelf liquor license. Solicitor Charlie Hall said the tavern owners would need to talk to the Ohio Liquor Board of Elections to obtain a permit;
/ HEARD Chris Kopp thank councilman Nick Collins for assisting in a CPR course;
/ RECEIVED the 2017 budget from fiscal officer Barb Hall who will ask for approval by Aug. 15.
