Trustees conduct hearing on Oakfield property

OSNABURG TWP.-- Township trustees held a hearing during their July 11 meeting regarding a property on Oakfield Avenue.

Trustee Kris Vincent said the residents have been doing a lot of work on the property. He and the trustees appreciated the effort. Township officials noted the trustees and residents have a good relationship as the property continues to be cleaned.

Zoning inspector Dorothy Bucher also said she was happy for the attention given to the property. She added the continued cleaning will make it safe for the children who reside there.

Trustees will continue to monitor the situation.

Interim fire chief Amy Parker had questions concerning the liability insurance for employees in the fire department. Fiscal Officer Brian Lowery noted all fire department employees would be covered.

Kris Vincent informed trustees that a resident had found two drums. One was a 55-gallon and the other was a 30-gallon container on his property on Sam Krable Avenue. Vincent contacted the health department and EPA to try and find a way to dispose of the drums. He was informed that the product that was in the drums would have to be tested before being able to dispose them. The cost for the test could be $1,000. The township would not be able to help him.

In other business, trustees:

/ REPORTED a property owner on Fairbrook has reported a problem with a neighboring property. The owner noted trees at the house next door are causing problems with their fence. Trustees noted the township has no authority to interact with the situation;

/ REPORTED a property on Ravenna Avenue has several cars and other trash items;

/ ANNOUNCED three candidates were applying for the fire chief position;

/ HEARD Parker report she and another fire department employee checked on the computer store in the village regarding concern for fire hazards.
