Pike trustees announce 11-day closure of Battlesburg Road

PIKE TWP. -- Township trustees during their July 5 meeting announced that Battlesburg Road closed that morning for 11 days. A culvert 300 feet west of Maplehurst is being replaced.

Township Road Supervisor Mark Pahanish added that his crew has ground up Briggle and Ullet, have hauled the stone out and rolled the roads. He said that chip-and-seal projects will be done either the last week of July or first week in August, depending on weather. A list of streets affected is on the township website. A salt bid of $54.87 per ton was received and accepted.

Zoning inspector Sharon Perrine reported that she will be inspecting the Phillips property on Thursday with a court date of July 11. She also reminded residents that a zoning permit is required for pool installation. Anyone with questions should call the zoning office.

In other business, trustees:

/ PASSED a resolution for fiscal officer Steve Knox to contact the auditor for amounts on a 1 mill fire levy, which is due for renewal in 2017.

/ GAVE Knox permission to shop for the best health care price for 2017.

Trustees adjourned into executive session for conference with an employee but took no action upon their return.

The next regular meeting will be July 18, 7:30 p.m. at the township building.
