SAND TWP. -- Sandy Township trustees learned recently that Minerva Enterprises is starting an apron replacement project at its Minerva Road SE facility.
Company official Bruce Sullivan told trustees the company plans to remove the existing concrete pad and replace it with a new pad that will be 12 inches in depth.
"We want to bring the pad up to grade because the existing pad has settled in the center and water collects there," he said.
The pad also will be widened by five feet and asphalt will be added on each side.
Detours will be posted during the project, which is expected to be completed by mid-July.
Construction crews will work to ensure that traffic impact is minimal.
"We really should have done this last year," Sullivan explained. "This is long overdue."
Sullivan added that the schedule at Malvern Racing also was considered.
"We want to be good neighbors and we wanted to get this done before some events that are planned there," he said.
Trustees also learned that sale prices are $39.19. Fiscal Officer Cathy McKinney said that is down nearly $20 from a year ago.
Trustees also received a monthly police report, which included 15 traffic arrests, two OVI arrests, four crash reports, 28 misdemeanor arrests, two felony arrests and 28 calls for service.
The township also had 234 paid hours and 15.5 grant hours.
