Generous donors capped The Stark County Hunger Task Force second annual Hunger at Home Campaign by contributing funds to complete a match of $12,000.
The law firm of Schulman and Associates pledged to match donations up to $12,000, and donations met that threshold as the campaign drew to a close Thursday. Allen Schulman, Canton City Council president, heads the Schulman law firm.
"Thanks to all or our wonderful individual and corporate donors, including a gift of $7,500 from Atlantic Food Distributors of Canton, full matching funds were secured," said Ralph Norton, the assistant director for the Stark County Hunger Task Force.
The matching funds enabled donors to provide up to 14 pounds of food for the nearly 28,000 area neighbors who receive free groceries monthly through the task force network of more than 30 pantries.
"Even though the annual campaign is ending, support is needed year round and donations continue to be accepted to help put groceries on the tables of the one in six of our neighbors struggling with food insecurity," Norton said.
