Join the campaign to help feed more than 59,000 Stark County residents - families struggling to put food on their table.
The Stark County Hunger Task Force second annual Hunger at Home Campaign winds down this month and the generosity and support of area residents remains critical in the local battle against hunger.
With every dollar raised, the task force provides up to seven pounds of food to neighbors struggling to make ends meet. "We need to continue to be the answer to bare cupboards and make sure our children and families are not hungry," said Amy Weisbrod, executive director of the task force. "No one in Stark County should be in a state of food insecurity. Please consider donating to provide a basic need for our struggling neighbors. It takes a village sometimes."
"Through our network of more than 30 pantries in every corner of the county, we provide free groceries to nearly 28,000 men, women and children every month," said Ralph Norton, assistant director of the task force. "However, the need is even greater - statistics show that more than one in six Stark County residents struggle with food insufficiency including an appalling 25 percent of all children."
Allen Schulman of Schulman and Associates has made a pledge of matching donations until June 30 until the task force reaches $12,000.
