Sandy Trustee reports on trustee state convention

SANDY TWP. -- The trustees covered a light agenda at its Feb. 4 meeting that included Trustee Robert Fallot's report on the annual trustee convention in Columbus.

No one was present for public speaks. Police Chief Jeff Hager presented his police report. Activities in the township included the following: 155.5 paid hours, 35.5 auxiliary hours, 15 traffic arrests, two juvenile arrests, one crash report, eight misdemeanor arrests, four felony arrests and 20 reports.

Fire Chief Dan Barnes covered each of the eight runs by the fire department last month. He additionally reported on two minor repairs.

Road Superintendent Gary McKinney discussed salt purchases as well as the reposting of the load limits on a bridge on Grovedell.

In new business, trustees heard about a mining permit in Sections 6 and 7 for Rosebud Mining.

Trustees passed a resolution to adopt the Disaster Preparedness Handbook for 2013.

In closing, Fallot recounted his Columbus trip to the trustee convention. He mentioned several workshops, especially one heavily attended session dealing with abandoned houses. Fallot also briefly mentioned two Saturday forums, one on the governor's new budget, the other on the impact of federal health care on townships.

All in all, Fallot said it was an excellent experience including the trade show.

Bills were paid totaling $18,824.84.
