Voting precinct changes in Sandy Twp.

By MIKE MUNDY The Press-News Published:

SANDY TWP. -- Trustees learned that the Precinct One voting site will be moved once again. This news topped a light agenda at their Jan. 16 meeting.

Although the recent changes were "set in stone" by the Stark County Board of Elections, this same board informed the trustees they wanted to make yet another change. So, Precinct One, only, will now vote at the Sandy Township Fire Station. Trustees asked fire chief Dan Barnes to put this on his sign board to limit the confusion certain to come at election time.

Minutes and fund status of the reorganizational meeting on Jan. 2 were approved. Bruce Weisburn was also named president of the board of trustees at that meeting.

Road superintendent Gary McKinney reported on light activity in snow removal and berm work done on Mottice Drive. He also told trustees they would have to buy 325 tons of salt as part of their order for the year. They were required to take delivery of 80 percent of the order that is shared by Waynesburg and Magnolia. Payment is not due until later in the year.

In the public speaks session, trustees heard from Lynda and Patrick Rimke of 9800 Morges about a ditch problem caused by what they said was careless driving. McKinney told them he would be out there on Tuesday to work on it.

Linda Barnes asked trustees why the fire chief did not get the same 2 percent raise as other township employees. Weisburn explained the trustees were not pleased with a report that had gone undone.

Bills were paid totaling $11,458.05.
