For her 21st birthday, Abbey Bair was given a night to remember.

A surprise party was given in her honor, and her husband, Travis Bair-- who was supposed to be in Afghanistan-- was there to say "happy birthday" with lots of hugs and a kisses.

On Jan. 20, the surprise birthday party was held at the Firehouse Grill & Pub, in Zoar, where Abbey is employed. The party was given by friends, family and others at the Firehouse.

The big surprise, however, was the arrival of her husband Spc. Bair, who along with the Ohio National Guard 1484th Transportation Unit of North Canton, had been serving in Afghanistan. Spc. Bair not only surprised his wife; he also surprised his parents, Bill and Sheri, who were at the party as well.

Abbey and Travis were married on June 1, 2011, and Spc. Bair was deployed on June 5. They had not seen each other for seven months. Abbey was expecting him to arrive home around Feb. 1.

Travis is home for a two-week stay. Both Travis and Abbey are graduates of Sandy Valley High School. Abbey is the daughter of Tyler and Tonya Reynolds.
