Alexis Crone was recently declared the Sandy Valley District Spelling champion after 10 rounds of spelling.
Alexis, a sixth-grader at Sandy Valley Middle School, is the daughter of Jennifer and Robert Crone of Waynesburg.
She represented Sandy Valley on March 6, at the 64th Regional Grand Final Spelling Bee, held at GlenOak Theater.
Alternates were Shelly Lambert and Brandon Murphy. Seventeen participants participated in the Spelling Bee which was held on Feb. 12, in the high school auditorium.
