34th annual EC-Osnaburg Festival to be held June 17-20, parade kicks off event

The 34th annual East Canton-Osnaburg Township Festival will be held Wednesday through Saturday, June 17-20, from 5-11 p.m. on the grounds of the East Canton Lions Club and East Canton High School.

The festival parade will kick off activities on Wednesday June 17, at 6:30 p.m. Marching groups, including the East Canton Hornet High School Marching Band, will be in the parade. Other units include floats, horses, fire trucks, antique cars and much more. The parade steps off at East Canton High School, proceeds west on Center Street, south on State Route 44 (Wood Street), west on Nassau, south on Cedar; West on Liberty, north on Plum, east on Noble and returns to the high school. Trophies will be awarded at the grandstand following the parade. Parade chairpersons are Diana and Paul Heaston. The Heastons can be called at 330-488-0274 for questions about the parade or to enter your group.

Free musical entertainment is scheduled each evening from 8-11 p.m. Little Rock will perform on Wednesday, June 17, playing country with a little bit of rock. Back by popular demand on Thursday, June 18, is Bold 1 recording artist Kody Stormn and the Winds Band, playing country and classic rock. Featured on Friday, June 19, will be Taylor Made Classics, which will be rockin' to the oldies . On Saturday, June 20, disc jockey Josh Marshall will play your favorites. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the musical entertainment each evening.

Mechanical rides will be provided this year by Lisco Amusement Company.

Good food, crafts and games are also planned.

Other events planned include a pancake breakfast on Saturday, June 20, at the Foltz Community Center. The breakfast is sponsored by the Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Post 667. The East Canton Lions Club will have its popular barbecue chicken dinners Wednesday and Friday evenings beginning at 5 p.m.

The festival is a nonprofit organization with volunteers serving as committee members, which include Carrie Little, Jackie Branch, Dana Kullman, and Diana and Paul Heaston.
