/ Twenty years ago this week: Members from the Canton South Class of 1954 met in the home of Carole Berger Nichols for coffee cake, coffee and lots of reminiscing last week. They were Carolyn Yohe Collins who is visiting from Texas, Shirley Bedneg Chaney from Newark, Ohio and Darla Strobel Engel, Shirley Tourdot Schmidt, Faye Arnett Klingamen, Nancy Marbott Griffith, Janet Ecksmith Boyer, Joan Sickafoose Leyte and Dee Shreffler Duplain.
/ The Canton South High School Class of 1961 held its 55-year reunion on July 16 at McCall's Restaurant. Forty-two classmates and their 22 guests had an enjoyable evening. Classmates donated 18 door prizes. The grand prize was a 3 foot by 4 foot latch hook rug made by classmate David Moye. The beautiful rug depicted the "old" Canton South Wildcat from the 1960s. Table centerpieces were provided by classmate Sandi Gigliotti Christoff and her husband, Jim. The centerpieces /herb gardens--were given to one person at each table. There was visiting, looking at memorabilia, a sit-down dinner, drawing for the door prizes, picture taking, and more visiting. There were classmate directories and candy and mint and cookie favors. Dessert was baklava provided by Judy Haver Gregory. We also enjoyed cupcakes with gray icing and red sprinkles / Canton South's school colors. Sheila Pollock Tinus provided laminated placemats with a picture of the current Canton South main building. Already, classmates are asking if there will be a 60-year reunion. Yes, we are planning on it.
