/ Congratulations to Canton South students Molly Kendrick and Madison Zaleski who were selected to attend Buckeye Girls State June 12-18. The program is held at the University of Mount Union and is for students who have just completed their junior year of high school. They were sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 440 from North Industry.

/ Twenty years ago this week, the retired Canton Local cafeteria workers met for lunch at Der Dutchman in Bolivar. There were 19 workers present, including Glenda Lung's mother, Ruth.

/ The Canton South Class of '59 monthly luncheon group met June 15 at McCall's Restaurant. The next meeting of the group will be Wednesday, July 20 at McCall's at 11:30 a.m. Any classmate is welcome to join the group.

/ The Louisville Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to enjoy summer cruise-ins. Cars, trucks and bikes will be on display on Wednesday, July 13 and Aug. 10 and 24 from 5-8 p.m. The events will be held on E. Main Street between Route 44 and Church Street. A DJ, food, vendors, door prizes, raffles, 50/50 and Eagles steak fry will be featured. Downtown restaurants and businesses will be open. / Congratulations to Ian Smith, Quad Ambulance District's newest paramedic. Ian has been working with QUAD for the past three years as an EMT, but just recently completed paramedic school and passed the National Registry test on his first attempt.

/ Congratulations to Jessica and Sean Parker whose beautiful bundle of joy, Kailey Jane was born June 13. She weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 19 inches long. Mom, dad and baby are all doing great! Very proud grandparents Jeff and Linda Brothers can't wait to see what exciting journey God has for their new grandchild!

/ The Sandy Valley Athletic Booster Club is looking for businesses and families interested in purchasing a stadium sign to be displayed on the fence of the football stadium. / If you heard and noticed a large group of motorcycles on Father's Day, it was the F.A.T.H.E.R.S. Poker Run making its fourth stop at Taggarts Ice Cream. Families Against The Heroin Epidemic Rally in Stark County held the event to raise money to support addition treatment, education and law enforcement.

/ Congratulations and thank you to the American Legion posts and sponsors who sent Sandy Valley students to Buckeye Boys State and Girls State last week.
