* Canton South Junior Guild held its Jan. 17 meeting at Faircrest Memorial Middle School. The program was presented by Kim Redmon, superintendent of Canton Local Schools, about the upcoming levy on the March 6 ballot. The next meeting will be held on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Faircrest cafeteria.
* Application blanks for the Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs Scholarships were taken to the school guidance office in December. Students can obtain applications for these in the guidance office and are due back for pick up by the education chairman on Feb. 15.
* Canton South AARP 4885 Executive Board met on Jan. 19. Grace Thomas, new president presided at the meeting. Members also went over the by-laws revisions make by the committee. A special meeting of the Executive Board was held at the home of Grace Thomas. The regular meeting of the organization was to be held on Jan. 25 at noon for lunch. Another board meeting will be held on Feb. 2 at the home of the president.

* Family story time at the East Canton Library will be Wednesdays, Feb. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. Storytimes start at 10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome to attend. The book club for adults is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 14, 7 p.m. The book will be "The Widower's Tale," by Julia Glass.
* The next senior social will meet Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 10:30 a.m., at the Foltz Community Center. The menu will consist of stuffed pork chop, scalloped potatoes, vegetables and applesauce. The program will be provided by Comfort Keepers, which provides nonmedial, in-home care. Reservations should be scheduled one week prior to the social. * Sandy Valley girls youth softball sign-ups will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m, Thursday, Feb. 23, from 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All sign-ups for girls will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church on the corner of state Routes 183 and 800.
