Aultman Health Talk dates for March announced

Aultman Hospital is presenting the free Health Talk programs during the month of March. Seating for all health talks is limited, and reservations are required.

March 6: Common back disorders will be presented by Mark Cecil, M.D., orthopedic surgeon at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m.

Four out of five adults will experience back pain. Learn the signs and symptoms of many common back conditions, diagnosis and treatment options, as well as when to seek care.

March 7: Total joint replacement will be presented by Michael London, M.D., orthopedic surgeon at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m.

Learn the latest trends in total joint replacement, including minimally invasive and computer-assisted hip and knee replacements. Check risk factors at aultman.org/jointaware.

March 12: Skin care and wound prevention will be presented by Cynthia Sponseller, R.N., director of Aultman Wound Care Services at Aultman West, 2-3:30 p.m.

Learn how to best care for skin to keep it healthy no matter what the age.

March 13: Controlling diabetes will be presented by Cheryl Michaels, R.N., B.S.N, certified diabetes educator at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m.

Newly diagnosed with diabetes? Learn how to manage the condition and handle instances when blood glucose is out of control.

March 14: Medicare today will be presented by Sharon Smith, Medicare educator at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m.

Learn options for the original Medicare plan, the many advantage plans as well as prescription drug coverage options. Get some questions answered.

March 19: Hearing aids will be presented by Chris Herberghs, licensed hearing-aid specialist at Aultman North, 2-3:30 p.m.

Hearing loss can impact safety and quality of life. There will be "mini" hearing tests and hearing aids samples.

March 20: Cancer screening and prevention will be presented by Tina Brechbill, C.N.S., Aultman oncology clinical nurse specialist at the Sharon Lane Health Information Center, from 2-3:30 p.m.

Learn about the various cancer screenings available and find out how to help reduce the risk of cancer by living a healthier lifestyle.

March 26: Massage and mobility will be presented by Lyn Sabino, licensed massage therapist at Aultman West, 2-3:30 p.m.

Massages can aid in the healing process, as well as promote relaxation and well-being. Learn other benefits, how to find a massage therapist and see a demonstration.

March 27: Safety and security at home will be presented by Chris Feller, director of safety, Aultman Hospital at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m.

Is the home safe? Find out why it is so important for everyone to take notice of useful safety and security tips.

March 28: Irritable bowel disease will be presented by Khalil Korkor, M.D., gastroenterologist at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m.

Learn prevention, self-care, risk factors, treatment options and when to seek medical advice for this digestive disorder that causes abdominal pain, gas and diarrhea.
