Aultman Health Talks begin Feb. 5, subjects include heart disease, Alzheimer's

Aultman Hospital presents the following free Health Talk programs during the month of February. Seating for all health talks is limited, and reservations are required. Call 330-363-8255 or sign up at www.aultman.org.

Feb. 5: Reducing Your Risk of Heart Disease will be presented by Adene Keller, R.N., Cardiac Rehab at Aultman West, 2-3:30 p.m.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the U.S. Learn how to help prevent heart disease and reduce the risk. Check individual risk factors at aultman.org/heartaware.

Feb. 6: Know the 10 Signs will be presented by Jennifer Miller, Alzheimer's Educator at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m.

Come learn the top 10 signs of Alzheimer's, how the disease differs from typical aging, the diagnosis process and why early detection is crucial.

Feb. 7: Varicose & Spider Veins will be presented by Stephen Sanofsky, M.D., Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m.

Learn techniques to reduce discomfort and progression of varicose veins, as well as when to seek medical assistance.

Feb. 12: MyPlate will be presented by Linda Brunk, R.N., C.P.N, Clinical Outreach at Aultman North, 2-3:30 p.m.

The MyPlate icon is the new USDA food graphic replacing MyPyramid. Come learn more about the five food groups, making healthy meal choices and portion control.

Feb. 13: Aesthetics of Eyelid Surgery will be presented by Sanjeev Dewan, M.D., Ophthalmologist at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m.

Several surgical techniques are available to improve the appearance of the eyelids. Come learn the factors and options that will help obtain the best outcome.

Feb. 14: Live, Laugh, Love - The Heart of Leadership! will be presented by Michael Gallina, director of outreach and organizational development, AultCare at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m.

Leading our families, loved ones, work teams, ball teams, and/or church groups is a matter of heart, as well as commitment. Come enjoy an energized evening that will touch your personal leadership "heart"!

Feb. 19: Fall Prevention will be presented by Sheree Nuske, R.N. at Aultman West, 2-3:30 p.m.

Keep yourself or an older loved one safe with easy fall prevention strategies, such as home modifications and strength exercises. Also, learn about medications that may affect balance.

Feb. 20: Diabetes Diet will be presented by Sean Beauch, R.D., L.D., Dietitian at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m.

Learn tips to safely lose weight while being on a diabetes diet and controlling blood sugar levels.

Feb. 21: Minding Your Health will be presented by Sara Sayre, M.A., Psychology Fellow and Steve Graef, Ph.D., Psychology Fellow at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m.

Learn how mind/body medicine can help achieve peace, greater health, happiness and clarity even in the midst of great challenges and difficulties.

Feb. 26: Caregiver for the Cancer Patient will be presented by Brandy Hahn, R.N., Cancer Outreach at Aultman North, 2-3:30 p.m. A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming for the patient and the caregiver. Learn ways for both of you to manage your stress, cope with your emotions and enhance wellness during this difficult time.
