For the Canton South Mother's Day writing contest, children were asked to explain why their mother deserved a Dairy Queen ice cream cake. Here are several of their letters (written in their own words and spelling).
My mom deserves a DQ ice cream cake for Mother's Day because Well, one she's constantly doing the best she can for me and my two sisters. She tys the best she can to put us n sports and keep us happy. My oppinon about my mom is that she wonderful, loving, caring and the best mom in the world and I don't deserve to have her as a mother, I know I don't deserve that DQ ice cream cake but my mom does and I love her for who she is and I know that she loves me for who I am too! And that's why my mommy deserves that DQ ice cream cake. Thank you. And last shes a great mom.
P.S. Please choose me! And if not thats alright.

My grandma deserves a D.Q. cake because she sticks with her promises no matter what. When I was little and my mom had to work she helped take care of me. She took me in when I was little, she has taken my mom in many time when she couldn't support herself, and she's taken in my mom with my brother and my sister many times also. Shes nice to me no matter what happens and I love her for that. She's a beautiful person because she has a good heart. She would love a delicious, creamy D.Q. cake.

Dear Mrs. Ring,
I'm a fifth grader at Walker Elementary. I think my mom deserves a Dairy Queen cake for Mother's Day because of everything she does for me and my family.
If she were to win it would make her really happy. She deserves it she cooks, cleans, and gets everyone where they need to be on time. Even when she's tired she doesn't stop.
The things she does for everyone is nonstop. Every night she will put me to bed and we say a prayer together about people we car about that are in need. Then she wakes me up in the morning with a "Get up" song. Sometimes it's annoying but other times I laugh. She always takes me to my gymnastics classes and dance on time and stays most of the time she always supports me in all my dreams and sports I'm in. She always makes good and healthy dinners for us. She always helps me with things I'm not so good at like talking. I don't talk alot and she always helps me with that! When I walk through the doors she always asks how my day was at school. She always comes outside with us while we play and finally she keeps her promises she never lets anyone down!
I really think my mom deserves this Dairy Queen cake she needs something like that!
Thank you for reading my letter and your concern.
Sincerely,
Madison Zaleski, grade 5
Dear Ms. Ring,
My mom deserves a Dairy Queen cake because....well, there's too many things. Let me explain. First of all, she loves DQ. It's the only place she will by birthday cakes. My mom also takes care of me. She's the one who buys my clothes (and my brother's too). She's the one who makes sure I fit them and that they're clean. She makes sure I have a good lunch at school. She's the one who pays!
She's the one who gave our family manners. She makes sure that I'm not spoiled. She's a the one who does not let me eat a bunch of junk food and the one who makes sure that I's fit! She make sure that I'm a nice person and has friends to laugh with, and enjoy their company with. She's the one who is brave enough to break fights in our family. She makes sure I have good times with good people. Racheal Lynn Viola cares for me and loves me and taught me to have love in my heart only and never to think or say hate. All of these reasons are why she deserves a DQ cake.
Love,
Isabelle G. Gruder, grade 4
P.S. There are more reasons!
Dear Mrs. Ring:
I am writing this to suggest my mom for a DQ cake. I am a fifth grader from Walker Elementary.
I think that my mom deserves a DQ cake because she helped me learn how to rid my bike, taught me how to cook and do laundry. Helped me with math, softball and basketball. And is always there when I need help.
If my mom won a DQ cake it would tell her how loving she is by always being there when I need her. My mom would enjoy every bite she took because she would know that it's filled with love.
I really think that my mom deserves this cake because she is very, very, loving and is so nice because she is always trying to do whats best for me.
Thank you for taking your time to read this. I hope you will pick me for the DQ cake.
Sincerely,
Alyssa Hattery, grade 5
Dear Mrs. Ring,
O think my mom deserves a Dairy Queen cake. My little sister just turned one year old and is a big handful. My mom has to watch her when I'm at school. My little sister loves to get into things that she knows she's not suppose to get into all the time. My mom is always there foe mw. My mom and I have fun together and joke around with each other. She is very busy and had to go to work almost every day. That's why I think my mom deserves a Dairy Queen cake.
Sincerely,
Kayla Haynam, grade 4
