Sleepy Hollow Golf Course provides value, food, shopping and golf

Published:

The golf course located in Alliance provides a great golfing value, great food and an excellent golf course, along with a complete golf shop.

Sleepy Hollow Golf Club is a traditional course with tree-lined fairways and small greens. Water hazards come into play on 14 holes, and 25 bunkers are positioned over 15 of the 18 holes.

Built in 1927, the course sits at 374 Homeworth Road in Alliance. It is member-owned and is classified as a semi-private course. Total yardage is 6,294 yards for blue tees, 5,818 for white and 5,268 for red. Blue tees slope is 118, white is 116 and red is 113. Men's par is 71, and ladies' is 72. Ratings are 68.9 for blue tees, 67.8 for white and 72.9 for red tees. Ball placement is key for scoring low on the course.

The dress code requires a shirt and shorts of appropriate length. Shoes with metal spikes are not allowed.

Wireless Internet access is available in the clubhouse.

New PGA Head Golf Professional Doug Brown brings 15 years of private country club experience to Sleepy Hollow Country Club. A Mount Union College graduate ('97), Doug has significantly enhanced the overall golf operation and has established a tremendous golf shop.

The shop carries Cobra, Ping, Taylor Made, Titleist and Odyssey golf clubs; Foot Joy shoes; and the complete line of Titleist golf balls. All golf equipment is priced at the manufacturer's Minimum Advertised Price. In other words, his prices are the same as any national chain retail store. Why waste your time driving elsewhere when you could be playing golf instead? In addition, Doug also carries Sleepy Hollow and Ohio State logoed shirts and hats.

Doug's other services include free custom fitting, club regripping and golf instruction. Individual lesson rates are $50 for an hour and $30 for a half hour.

With its magnificent views overlooking the golf course, the dining facilities at Sleepy Hollow are the perfect place to enjoy breakfast or lunch with your friends and family. Sleepy Hollow's food service manager, Carol Unkefer, is in her second year at the club. Along with her friendly staff, Carol continues to provide a wide variety of delicious meals at moderate prices.

The restaurant offers daily breakfast specials for $2.99 and $3.99; various lunch specials; and the always-popular golf and breakfast special for $22.50. Restaurant hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday and 6:30 a.m. to noon Saturday-Sunday.

Carol and Doug are also working in conjunction to make Sleepy Hollow the best place to host your golf outing. Call today to ask about outing packages and to reserve a date.

Prices offered at Sleepy Hollow are a great value. For example, Monday through Friday until 3 p.m., 18 holes can be played with a cart for only $22. Weekday senior rates are $20 for 18 holes. A nine-hole youth special is also available: one adult and child under 15 with a cart for $12 after 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Sleepy Hollow offers a variety of membership options and season pass programs. Membership is very affordable. Family memberships are $875 per year. Stock and junior memberships (under age 35) are $750 per year. The price for those over 35 is $875 per year.
