When the Kress grocery store opens on Thursday, Jan. 21, it will be the SAV-U-MORE IGA. Owner David Kress I and Meat Manager David Kress II are committed to helping area families save money on groceries, so much so that they have made a major change in this third generation business.

The grand opening will be celebrated starting Jan. 21. There will be prizes and great savings opportunities. There will be give-aways and prizes to the first 100 customers each of the first tw0 days.

Among the specials for the grand opening are fresh pork spareribs at just 99 cents per pound, fresh ground round at $1.88 per pound in a ten pound roll, Oreos at $1.98 and Peter Pan peanut butter at $1.48 for a 16 oz. jar. See the enclosed flier for more great deals.

The new concept is best summed up in the word "simplify." Instead of perhaps a dozen varieties of an item there will now be a national brand, a store brand and a generic item to choose from. The store will still carry Heinz Ketchup, Kraft macaroni and cheese and Marzetti dressings, as well as many other favorites.

This new store format allows Kress to buy at a lower cost from suppliers so they can offer lower grocery prices throughout the store to help their customers get the best value for their buck

The bakery, deli, meat and produce departments will still carry almost all of the same great items the community has come to appreciate from Kress. The video box and pick-five meat special will be continued. USDA choice meat and other fine quality meats will continue to be sold.

Kress will still carry products from local businesses like, Sugardale meats, Park Farm chicken, Shear potato chips and Frito Lay snacks.

Originally called Kendel and Kress, this business has served the East Canton community at this location since 1937.

The younger Kress sums up the store transformation in this way, "We are changing to meet the needs of the community, to bring lower prices, and who doesn't like lower prices?"
