Kevin and Renee Weber, owners of the newly opened Quaint Gatherings in Waynesburg, describes her store as "a little of this and a little of that." I would add that it is also a cozy, friendly place to do some Christmas shopping or just to stop in and visit.

The Webers opened Quaint Gatherings at 7214 Ryder Road (and State Route 171) in what they describe as "the old apple house" (Muckley's Orchards). For 10 years the old, the familiar building to many travelers and residents has been sitting empty Many in the area were excited to see it being painted, refurbished and then open for business once again. The building has been painted inside and out, plumbing upgraded, new ceiling installed, lots of cleaning done and attractive country curtains now hang in the windows.

Kevin and Renee Weber, also long-time residents of the area, were equally thrilled to find out the site would be available for them to open up their business. Renee had been working as a massage therapist at Heiwa Center for Holistic Health and Wellness, in Mineral City, which is operated by her son and daughter-in-law. The same day she had made a decision to make a change in her work, Renee found out that the old orchard building was available.

Thirty-three vendors from as far south as Stuebenville and as far north as North Canton have products in the store. Renee said the only requirement is all items should be handmade. Items include braided rugs, baby quilts and afghans, decorations, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, soy and regular candles and more. Kevin, who does primitive-style wood working, also has many of his items in the store such as shelving, benches, candle bowls and seasonal gifts and decorations. Many baked goods are available such as cookies, pumpkins rolls and more. Orders can also be taken. Christmas trees are also for sale.

A few resale items are sold in a side room called "Rosie's Closet." They include women's clothes, purses and shoes. Books, which are sold for only $1 each, are neatly displayed in a book case just outside of Rosie's Closet. Renee says all the next-to-new merchanside are "higher end" resale products, and consignment items are not being taken.

The Webers plan to be open year-around and to have seasonal items such as plants in the spring, produce in the summer and pumpkins and more in the fall.

Raising four children in the area and being active members of the community, they are pleased to be able to continue to give back to the area.

Many will know Kevin as being one of the founding members, as well as one of three original paramedics with Quad Ambulance, which provides emergency services for Magnolia, Waynesburg and surrounding areas. He served as chief for three years and is now president of Quad's board. Kevin now works for the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Their four children-- Aaron, Nicole Boniphant, Andrew and Kristen Weber-Collier, still live in the area with their families.

Quaint Gatherings is open 10 a.m. to noon on Christmas Eve, but will be open throughout the winter from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

For more information, call 330-704-3293 or e-mail Rweber444@neo.rr.com. Renee says consignors for the handmade products are still being taken.
