CANTON -- The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal traffic crash in Canton Township, Stark County. The incident occurred at approximately 1:53 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, on State Route 800, south of Faircrest Road.
Peter C. Mingo of Everhard Road, Canton, was traveling north on SR 800 when his vehicle traveled left-of-center striking a south bound vehicle being operated by Jason T. Goudy of Aspen Street N. E., North Canton, and a second vehicle driven by Bonnie K. Hawvermale of Westland Avenue, Massillon.
As a result of the crash, Peter C. Mingo, age 83, Bruce M. Goudy, age 61, Alex C. Goudy, age 8 and Kira D. Goudy, age 5, died in the crash. Jason T. Goudy
and Bonnie K. Hawvermale were transported to Aultman Hospital in Canton where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol and/or drugs have not been determined to be a factor in the incident. Road and weather conditions do not appear to have been factors in the crash either. Safety belts and/or child restraints were in use by all individuals except for Peter C. Mingo.
