30th annual holiday pops concert set

Holiday events at the Canton Symphony include the 30th annual holiday pops concert, set for Saturday, Dec. 12,

The rich, glorious music of the season will put everyone in the holiday spirit when the Canton Symphony Orchestra and five of the area's top high school choral groups present the festive musical treat.

Beginning at 8 p.m. in Canton's Umstattd Hall at 2323 17th St. N.W., some 360 choristers of outstanding vocal programs at GlenOak, Hoover, Lake, Perry and McKinley high schools will perform with the symphony under the direction of Symphony Assistant Director Matthew Brown, with emcee Gary Rivers of 101.7 FM.

The Holiday Pops Concert will include "Winter Wonderland," music from "The Nutcracker," and Handel's beautiful "Hallelujah Chorus" from the Messiah. Audience members will be given the chance to sing along with this spectacular line-up. Additionally, the choirs will sing a cappella led by each high-school choral director.

Tickets are priced at $15, $20 and $25 and are available online at www.cantonsymphony.org, by phone at 330-452-3094 or at the ticket office at the Cultural Center for the Arts weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets also will be available at the door the night of the concert.
